Biography
Dr. Bo Shen is a full professor in the Division of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Studies at Wayne State University. He received his Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland in 2004. Dr. Shen’s research focuses on students’ motivation, curriculum and instruction in physical education, and physical activity interventions. He has had 97 presentations at national and international conferences and has authored over 55 data-based refereed research articles published in primary journals in the field of education including physical education, such as Contemporary Educational Psychology, British Journal of Educational Psychology, Journal of Experimental Education, Learning and Individual Differences, Sex Role: Journal of Research, Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sports, Journal of Teaching in Physical Education, Journal of Health and Physical Activity, Obesity Review, etc. Dr. Shen was the first recipient of Helen M. Heitmann Young Scholar Award By Curriculum and Instruction Academy of National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) and has been bestowed the Research Writing Award by the research consortium of American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) and two Exemplary Paper Awards by the Special Interest Group (SIG) of Research on Learning and Instruction in Physical Education at American Educational Research Association (AERA).
