Description

A National Science Foundation - Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) position is available in the Steiner Lab (Department of Biological Sciences, Wayne State University). The participant will pursue research in aquatic field ecology at the internationally recognized Kellogg Biological Station (outside of Kalamazoo, Michigan). This is a 10 week long position (between May and August of 2014) and participants will be in residence at the Kellogg Biological Station. A $4000 stipend plus food and housing at the field station will be provided.

Qualifications

Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. with current undergraduate status to be eligible. Prior coursework in ecology, evolution or environmental science. Desire to gain hands-on research experience in ecology and ability to work independently, outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Project Timeline

10 week long position between May and August of 2014 (exact start dates are negotiable).

Duties

Carry out a research project in aquatic ecology under the guidance of the PI. Must be in residence at the Kellogg Biological Station, full time, five days of the week during the 10 week period.
