Description

Mothlight Microcinema is a nomadic film series that screens experimental, documentary, and animated films and videos free of charge. Mothlight's mission is to foster an appreciation for avant-garde film and support the local film community with screenings, occasional workshops, and vibrant post-screening discussions.

Qualifications

Students are expected to maintain professional communication with Dr. Yezbick about tasks relating to organizing film screenings and events. Students should be in good academic standing and be enrolled in the Film or Media Arts and Studies programs. Students with other declared majors will be considered if they have experience with art or film curating and a demonstrated interest.

Project Timeline

This project is ongoing.

Duties

Students can expect to gain experience in writing curatorial statements, introducing film programs, moderating discussions with filmmakers, curating programs, and all the logistical work that goes into screening film/video (contacting distributors, emailing and securing venues, finding and gathering the films, communicating with filmmakers, promotion and advertising for screenings, etc)
