Description

The Luca lab is committed to bring science to the community through outreach programs in local schools. The goal of this project is to develop science outreach activities for Elementary school children.
Specifically, an undergraduate student will be responsible to research potential experiments, prepare protocols, test the protocols in the lab, prepare handouts and participate in the school outreach activity together with members of the Luca Lab. This project will allow an undergraduate student to develop laboratory skills, learn how to prepare and optimize protocols, develop science communication skills.

Qualifications

Basic biology and/or chemistry courses, with a lab component are required. Experience with science experimental projects and community volunteering are preferred. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, responsible and can work independently.

Project Timeline

The project will start immediately and can be developed over 1 or 2 semesters.

Duties

Research potential experiments, prepare protocols, test the protocols in the lab, prepare handouts and participate in the school outreach activity together with members of the Luca Lab. Participate in weekly lab-meetings and perform other lab tasks as needed.
