Description

Glia are the caretakers of the nervous system, yet relative to neurons, much less is known about glia function. Vision is one of the most energy-demanding senses, yet the glial support mechanisms required for maintaining visual function is still under active investigation. Students in this project would learn genetics and electrophysiology to manipulate gene expression in glia and measure the effect on photoreceptor function.
