Research Description

My current research maps the relationship between race and capitalism. I am at work on two projects. The first, Race After Representation situates questions of race in the U.S. within a broader global context and attempts to rethink race and antiracism outside of a nationalist framework. The second, Race and Capital, co-authored with Chris Chen, retheorizes the political economy of comparative US racial formation. Historicizing dominant understandings of race, this book-length study traces several persistent impasses in the analysis of race.
