Narrative Bio
Kevin Ginsburg, M.D., M.S., is a urologist with subspeciality training in urologic oncology. Dr. Ginsburg has both a clinical practice and research interests in treating patients with urologic malignancies. His clinical practice spans the spectrum of urologic oncology, allowing him to provide comprehensive urologic oncology care to patients with a variety of malignancies including prostate, bladder, kidney, ureteral, testicular, adrenal and penile cancer. Dr. Ginsburg offers surgical and non-surgical treatments for patients with all urologic malignancies, which allows him to help patients decided on the right treatment type or surgery (open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery) that is best for them, their family, and their goals.
Dr. Ginsburg's research interests have solidified at the intersection of urologic oncology and health services research. These interests have involved studying the variation and patterns of how health care is delivered and the resulting effect of this variation on clinical outcomes. He has applied this interest to studying variation in practice patterns in patients with low and intermediate risk prostate cancer on active surveillance, an observational strategy with the intent to avoid or delay treatment. This research has focused on how urologists use different imaging and genetic tools to aid in risk stratification for men with newly diagnosed prostate cancer and how these different tools affect medical decision making and longer-term oncological outcomes. Additionally, Dr. Ginsburg has a keen interest in quality improvement research for men with prostate cancer. Additionally, he is the co-director of the prostate cancer program of the Michigan Urological Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MUSIC), In this role, Dr. Ginsburg helps to direct the quality improvement initiatives of more than 250 urologists from 46 practices across Michigan to help achieve our goal of "to make Michigan the best place in the world for prostate cancer care."
