Biography
Neva Nahan has been engaged in survey and evaluation research for over 30 years. In the mid-1970s, she began working on research projects at the WSU Center for Urban Studies, where she subsequently became the Director of Survey and Evaluation Services, overseeing a staff of up to 20 individuals who provided survey and evaluation support to the university and community agencies. The unit included a Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing Lab, data processing and statistical consulting, and project managers. Ms. Nahan’s work as a program evaluator has been extensive and varied, with topics including family neighborhood support centers, school-to-work initiatives, teacher certification, community organizing, domestic violence, and inclusion of children with disabilities in general education settings. She is a member of the Wayne State University Internal Review Board, charged with protection of human subjects in research, and currently serves as the Vice-Chairperson. Ms. Nahan is a founding member and former president of the Michigan Association for Evaluation.
Responsibilities
Neva Nahan is the Associate Director of the Center for Social Work Research. Neva will responsible for strategic and day-to-day operations of the Center for Social Work Research. This includes providing leadership on community outreach for research, internal assessment and action research for the areas of importance to the School of Social Work, and grant management. She will take on expanded responsibility for reaching out to community organizations to explore how the School of Social Work can collaborate on mutually beneficial research.

Responsibilities
Neva Nahan is the Coordinator for Research at the WSU School of Social Work. She assists faculty with the development and production of research proposals. She implements the School’s assessment, particularly for reaffirmation with the Council of Social Work Education and chairs the School’s Assessment Committee. As a staff member of School’s Center for Social Work Research, she supports the School’s research infrastructure, particularly the development of research proposals, which includes budget development, university approvals, and compliance with WSU human subject protections. In addition, Ms. Nahan conducts community-based evaluation projects. She teaches research courses in the School of Social Work and is currently lead teacher for research.
