Research Description
Dr. Matthewss research considers two areas of inquiry: 1) self-regulated learning in music, and 2) curriculum development, instruction, and pedagogy in music across the lifespan. Her work has been published in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Psychology of Music, College Music Symposium Journal of the College Music Society, The International Journal of Educational and Psychological Assessment, and the Journal of Band Research. She has presented national, and international conferences throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America, including the Symposium on Music Teacher Education, International Society for Music Education, College Music Society, the National Association for Music Education, Suncoast Music Education Research Symposium, Michigan Music Conference, International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, the International Women in Brass Conference, the American Educational Research Association, and the American Psychological Association. Her ensembles have performed at the Michigan Music Conference, and the 2013 and 2014 International Trumpet Guild International Conferences.
